David Kuhn has spent the last 28 years learning about the golf swing, teaching methods, and effective coaching. He is regarded as an enthusiastic and passionate instructor and a tremendous communicator who gets results. On his journey, he has studied under the legendary Ben Doyle and has worked extensively with Lynn Blake, who has gained international recognition as a golf educator, private teacher, and PGA TOUR coach. The common denominator of these major influences on David’s teaching is that each was trained as an Authorized Instructor of The Golfing Machine by its author, Homer Kelley. David has been a certified AimPoint instructor since 2013 and was personally trained by Mark Sweeney, the founder and developer of AimPoint Golf. David is a dedicated student of the game and is a life-long learner and educator who is constantly learning and studying to provide his students the most comprehensive instruction possible.
David has worked with all types of students in his career, from beginners to top college players, elite amateurs and professionals. David excels in player development for all levels.
He has a dedicated staff of instructors who have all been personally trained by him. He also mentors, teaches and certifies professional golf instructors looking to enhance their teaching ability and methodology.
David’s accomplishments include:
- Over 60 NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NJCAA Scholarship Players and multiple NCAA Division III Players and PGA PGM Students
- Multiple Pennsylvania State Amateur Champions & multiple USGA national event participants, PGA section event winners and top finishers & top amateur performers.
- Multiple All-State High School Players in four different states (PA, AK, WY, WA)
- Numerous junior champions & top performers (IJGT, AJGA, FCWT, HJGT, WPGA, KPGA, SPJGT)
- Spent seven years as the Director of Golf & Instruction for the TourneySportUSA Hawaii Golf Classic where he & his staff of ten coaches ran an instructional program and national competition for top junior players from across the U.S., Canada, and Japan on the islands of Maui, Oahu, and Kauai.
- For the past twenty years, he has run a junior developmental program that has taught over 1000 students from beginners to experts.
- Has coached the highly successful Peters Township High School golf program to a record of 398-43 over the past twenty seasons with his teams winning over forty tournaments, the Pennsylvania State Championship (setting a PA scoring record), six WPIAL team titles (setting a WPIAL scoring record), three PIAA team runner-up finishes, and producing multiple district and state qualifiers, champions, and place winners.
- Serves as the private coach to the Hickory HS (Hermitage, PA.) girls golf team that won three consecutive Pennsylvania State team championships in ’21, ’22, ’23 & set a PIAA girls scoring record.
- Has served on the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Golf Steering Committee for the past sixteen years working to upgrade & run a high school golf program that serves over 1,500 student-athletes.
- Served on the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Golf Steering Committee for eight years.
- Earned certification as a Class A Master Teaching Professional by the Professional Golf Teachers Association of America in 2006.
- Earned status as a Lynn Blake Certified Master Instructor in June 2012 having satisfied extensive pre-requisites and training including over 100 hours of personal study with Mr. Blake and previously earning both Associate, Instructor, and Senior level status and serves as the only U.S.-based teacher to certify LBCI Instructors other than Mr. Blake.
- Earned certification as an AimPoint instructor in 2013 and was personally trained by founder Mark Sweeney.
- Earned certification as an Eyeline Golf 4 Putting Elements and Tour Roll Certified Instructor.
- Earned certification as a Capto Golf 3D Putting Analysis Level 2 Instructor.
- Earned certification as a Golf Rehab BodiTrak Pressure Mapping Certified Instructor.
